Article L4135-20-2 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

Members of the regional council are affiliated to the general social security scheme under the conditions defined in article L. 382-31 of the social security code. The contributions of the regions and those of the elected member are calculated on the amount of the allowances actually received by the latter in application of the provisions of this code. A decree sets the conditions for application of this article.

Article L4135-22 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

Members of the regional council may set up an annuity pension in the management of which the affiliated elected representatives must participate. The constitution of the annuity pension is half the responsibility of the elected member and half the responsibility of the region. Article L4135-30 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

Honorary membership is conferred by the representative of the State in the region on former regional councillors who have exercised their elective functions for at least fifteen years. Honorary membership may only be refused or withdrawn by the representative of the State if the person concerned has been the subject of a conviction entailing ineligibility. Honorary membership is not accompanied by any financial benefit chargeable to the regional budget.
