Where votes are cast by post, they must be sent to or deposited with the head office of the relevant organising council. Voting closes on election day at the time specified when the elections are announced. No votes may be received after the closing declaration.

Postal votes are kept in a box, sealed in the presence of the relevant Council office. The surnames, first names and addresses of postal voters are recorded in the order in which they are received.
