Title III: STAY IN FRANCE

European Union citizens mentioned in 1° of article L. 233-1 who have established their habitual residence in France for less than five years are issued, at their request, with a residence permit bearing the words “EU/EEA/Swiss citizen-All professional activities”.

European Union citizens mentioned in 2° of article L. 233-1 who have established their habitual residence in France for less than five years are issued, at their request, with a residence permit bearing the words “EU/EEA/Swiss Citizen-Non-active”.

European Union citizens mentioned in 3° of article L. 233-1 who have established their habitual residence in France for less than five years are issued, at their request, with a residence permit bearing the words “EU/ EEA/ Switzerland Citizen-Student”.

Family members mentioned in 4° and 5° of article L. 233-1 who have established their habitual residence in France for less than five years are issued, at their request, with a residence permit bearing the words “Carte de séjour de membre de la famille d’un citoyen de l’Union/ EEE/ Suisse-Toutes activités professionnelles”.

Family members who are third-country nationals mentioned in article L. 233-2 must submit their application for a residence permit with their valid passport within three months of their entry into France, as well as proof establishing their family ties and guaranteeing the right of residence of the European Union citizen they are accompanying or joining. The provisions of articles R. 233-14 and R. 233-15 also apply to foreign nationals mentioned in article L. 200-5 when they are staying in France for more than three months.

A certificate of application is issued to all foreign nationals applying for the issue or renewal of a residence permit.A residence permit is issued to third-country nationals no later than six months after the application is submitted.
