Chapter II: Financial aid for the preparation and development of audiovisual projects

Selective financial aid is awarded to authors for the conception of a formalised version and for the writing of an elaborated version of audiovisual work projects. For the application of the provisions of this sub-section, this aid is referred to together as “creation aid”.

To be eligible for creative support, authors must be French nationals or equivalent.

The authors must have proven artistic experience or training. If there is more than one author, at least one of them must provide proof of this artistic experience or training.

The following are considered as authors’ artistic experience: 1° Writing or directing a cinematographic or audiovisual work of fiction, animation or creative documentary released in cinemas or broadcast on a television service or made available to the public on an on-demand audiovisual media service over the last three years; 2° Writing or directing two cinematographic or audiovisual works of fiction, animation or creative documentary released in cinemas or broadcast on…

Creation grants are awarded for the following audiovisual projects:1° Fiction projects, either in the form of units with a planned minimum running time of 60 minutes, or in the form of series;2° Animation projects, either in the form of units with a planned minimum running time of 8 minutes, or in the form of series. Creation grants are only awarded for projects conceived and written entirely or mainly in French or in a regional language used in France.

The projects must not have been submitted to and accepted by a television or on-demand audiovisual media services publisher prior to the submission of the application.In addition, until the decision of the President of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée, the projects must not be submitted to a television or on-demand audiovisual media services publisher.
