The municipal council audits the accounts for the last financial year and, if it so decides, in the presence of the municipal collector. It establishes whether the expenditure mandates ordered by the mayor are regular and whether the revenue vouchers are complete. The mayor may attend the municipal council’s deliberations, but is required to withdraw before the vote. The municipal collector does not attend the vote.

The town council is called upon to give its opinion on matters which, for this purpose, are referred to it by law or by the State representative in the department. It must give its opinion: 1° On the delimitation of the districts of recognised religions, insofar as these districts concern the territory of the commune or part of this territory; 2° On draft budgets, as well as on the accounts…

The Town Council has the right to ensure that its decisions are implemented. To this end, it may require the mayor to submit documents and accounts to it.

The municipal council has the right to submit to the representative of the State in the department wishes on matters concerning the municipality or certain parts of the municipality as well as complaints on the administration of the municipality.
