Market News Service centres are responsible for collecting, processing and disseminating economic and statistical information relating to prices and volumes of transactions carried out on markets of national interest whose monitoring is, in view of the aforementioned volumes, included in the national section of the service’s annual programme. Market News Service centres may also monitor other markets as part of the regional section of the service’s annual programme.

The managers of the markets of national interest concerned are consulted by the market news department prior to drawing up the list of sites to be included in the various sections of the department’s annual programme.

In order to establish the quotations published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, the agents of the market news service centres record, with the assistance of users, the prices charged on the sales sites of the markets mentioned in article A. 761-4.
