The profession of epithesist includes any person who fits, by means of a custom-made external facial prosthesis, a sick or disabled person with a loss of substance of the face or ears, or of these two associated anatomical regions. Fitting covers the design, taking of measurements and any moulding, manufacture, fitting, delivery of the appliance, checking its tolerance and immediate effectiveness, and monitoring the fitting and its adaptation.
