Caisse des dépôts et consignations is authorised to receive voluntary deposits from individuals.

These voluntary deposits may only be made in Paris and in the form of legal tender coins or banknotes.

Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations and its agents may not, under any circumstances, demand custody fees or any other form of remuneration, either at the time of the deposit provided for in article R. 518-35 or at the time of its return.

The Caisse des dépôts et consignations is responsible for the sums deposited, for which it issues receipts. The voluntary depositor must, on the same receipt and by a declaration signed by him, elect an address for service in the city of Paris, which gives him jurisdiction for all matters relating to the said deposit, in accordance witharticle 111 of the Civil Code.

Voluntary deposits shall be returned to the depositor, his authorised representative or his successors in title at the time agreed in the deed of deposit or, if no time has been agreed, upon presentation. Those who retain their funds in this way will not be subject to any other condition than that of handing over the acknowledgement of the fund and signing their receipt.

Sums deposited voluntarily may only be seized in the cases, forms and under the conditions provided for in articles L. 211-1 to L. 211-5, L. 162-1 and L. 162-2, L. 511-1 to L. 511-4, L. 512-1 and L. 512-2 of the Code of Civil Enforcement Procedures. Oppositions may nevertheless be received, without the said forms being observed, from the depositor who declares that he has lost his receipt.

Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations or its agents will make repayments to the collector of the institution in whose name the voluntary deposit was made, in accordance with the mandates of the competent prefects, mayors or administrators.

In the event of the loss of a receipt, the voluntary depositor must lodge an objection based on this cause; the said objection will be published in an extract in the Official Gazette, at the expense and with the diligence of the claimant; one month after the said publication, the cashier will be validly discharged by reimbursing the amount of the deposit to him on his reasoned receipt.
