Section 2: Provisions relating to departmental and territorial fire and rescue services

The departmental fire and rescue service is administered by a board of directors made up of representatives of the department, the communes and the public establishments for inter-communal cooperation with competence in the field of fire and rescue. The Board of Directors may provide for the representation, in an advisory capacity, of partner organisations of the fire and rescue service. The representatives of the organisations thus designated by the Board of Directors are appointed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors on their proposal.

The prefect or his representative attends board meetings as of right. If a deliberation appears likely to affect the operational capacity of the fire and rescue service or the proper distribution of resources, the prefect may request a new deliberation.

The Board of Directors deliberates, in the six months preceding the renewal of the representatives of the municipalities and public establishments for inter-municipal cooperation, on the number and distribution of its seats, which are decided by the Chairman of the Board of Directors in the light of this deliberation. .
