As soon as they arrive, postal voting envelopes are handed over by the service provider responsible for postal delivery, acting on behalf of the Minister for Employment, to the processing centre referred to in Article R. 2122-53.
The processing centre may not accept as postal votes any envelopes other than the official envelopes marked “Postal vote” delivered by the service provider responsible for postal delivery, acting on behalf of the Minister for Labour. Envelopes of any other nature shall be kept unopened by the processing centre with a view to their being appended to the minutes of the vote count.
Until the expiry of the contentious appeal period, or where contentious proceedings have been initiated, until the court decision has become final, the media files including the copy of the source programmes and executable programmes, the voting materials, the count, results and back-up files are kept under seal, under the supervision of the Minister in charge of labour. On the last day of the postal vote count, the chairman and assessors of the polling station count the remote electronic votes in public. To this end, they activate two of the three counting keys mentioned in article R. 2122-69. A secure printout of the vote count is made for inclusion in the minutes. The results are presented by region, by branch and by college.
If the voter has used both voting methods, only the electronic vote is retained.
The counting of postal votes is processed automatically.
