The provisions of articles R. 6152-501, with the exception of 2° and the fifth paragraph, R. 6152-502, R. 6152-504, with the exception of the first and last paragraphs, R. 6152-508 to R. 6152-510, R. 6152-511-1, R. 6152-513, R. 6152-518, with the exception of the last paragraph, and articles R. 6152-519 to R. 6152-536 are applicable to associate assistants.

Subject to the provisions of article R. 6152-539-2, associate assistants are recruited for an initial period of either one or two years, renewable by periods of one year, but the total period of service as an associate assistant may not exceed six years.

Associate assistant candidates may sign a contract to work in a public health institution and are then recruited for a period of two years or four years. The total duration of their duties as associate assistant may not exceed six years.

Associate assistants receive, after service rendered : 1° Fixed monthly emoluments which vary according to whether they are generalists or specialists, and which vary according to seniority, the amount of which is set by order of the ministers responsible for the budget, health and social security. Associate assistants made available, with their agreement, to an inter-hospital syndicate under the conditions set out in article R. 6152-502, may only carry out their duties under the direct responsibility of the practitioner in charge of the structure to which they are assigned. This practitioner fulfils the conditions of practice laid down by Book I of Part IV of this Code.

The file of an associate assistant, mentioned in article R. 6152-510, includes in particular documents proving that the person concerned has a good knowledge of the French language and is in compliance with the legislation relating to the residence and working conditions of foreigners in France. The Director General of the Regional Health Agency checks the validity of the diplomas and qualifications submitted for each recruitment.

The following may also be recruited as associate specialist assistants, without the conditions of diploma, qualification and training mentioned in the first paragraph of article R. 6152-538 being imposed on them: 1° Candidates for authorisation to practise the profession of doctor, dental surgeon or pharmacist as defined in I of article L. 4111-2 and article L. 4221-12, who have passed the knowledge verification tests, for the performance of the duties…
