Chapter I: Physiotherapists

It is forbidden to practise massage therapy under a pseudonym. A masseur-physiotherapist who uses a pseudonym for activities relating to his or her profession is obliged to declare this to the Conseil Départemental de l’Ordre.

The practice of physiotherapy involves the issuing by the physiotherapist of certificates, attestations and documents, the production of which is prescribed by legislative and regulatory texts. The prescriptions, certificates, attestations or documents issued by a masseur-physiotherapist are written legibly, in French, are dated, enable the practitioner from whom they are issued to be identified and are signed by him or her.

The masseur-physiotherapist takes part in the permanent care service within the framework of the laws and texts which organise it.

When participating in an on-call, emergency or on-call service, the masseur-physiotherapist makes all arrangements to be reached.

The masseur-physiotherapist shall indicate on his prescription forms and other professional documents: 1° His surname, first names, professional postal and electronic address, telephone number and identification number in the shared directory of professionals working in the healthcare system ; 2° His diploma or degree entitling him to practise his profession; 3° His status with regard to health insurance organisations; 4° His membership of an approved association as provided for in…

Masseur-physiotherapists may display their surname, first names, telephone number, days and times of consultation and their status with regard to health insurance organisations on a plaque at their place of practice. He may also mention his diplomas, qualifications, functions and specific features of practice recognised by the Conseil national de l’ordre. A plaque may be affixed to the entrance to the building and another to the door of the practice….

When setting up or changing their practice, masseur-physiotherapists may publish advertisements in any medium, taking into account the recommendations issued by the Conseil national de l’ordre.

In accordance with the provisions of article L. 4113-9, the regular practice of physiotherapy, in any form whatsoever, within a company, a local authority, a health care organisation or an institution governed by private law must, in all cases, be the subject of a written contract.
