Chapter III: Students in medicine, dentistry, midwifery and pharmacy

Hospital maieutics students attend practical training at least half-time on average over the duration of the second cycle. They take part in classes, tests and examinations during their time in theoretical training.

Hospital maieutics students take part in in-patient and out-patient activities under the responsibility of the referring practitioner designated by the person in charge of teaching at the place of placement in the host structure. They carry out the tasks and procedures assigned to them by the referring practitioner.

Before their first assignment, maieutics students must prove that they meet the conditions required by the regulations in force relating to the compulsory immunisation of certain people against certain diseases.

Hospital maieutics students are subject to the internal regulations of the establishment to which they are assigned.

Hospital maieutics students are subject to the disciplinary system applicable to students as defined by the internal regulations of the maieutics training structure. The director of the host hospital may exclude any student whose behaviour is such as to compromise the smooth running of the department.

Hospital students in maieutics receive an annual remuneration, the amount of which is set by order of the ministers responsible for the budget, higher education and health and revalued in line with changes in civil service salaries by order of the minister responsible for health. This remuneration is paid monthly after service has been rendered, with the exception of the period of study abroad provided for in article R. 6153-99….

Hospital maieutics students who complete a placement outside the establishment to which the training structure in which they are enrolled is attached receive a flat-rate transport allowance when the placement is located more than fifteen kilometres from this structure. The work placements mentioned in article R. 6153-99, with the exception of the study period abroad, carried out outside the home establishment of the training structure in which the maieutics student is registered, are organised by agreements. These agreements determine, in particular, their period of application and the conditions under which they may be revised. They are subject to periodic evaluation by the signatory parties.
