Title II: FINANCIAL AID FOR FILM DISTRIBUTION

Selective financial aid is awarded for the distribution of cinematographic works of French or foreign origin that were made more than twenty years ago and that have not been released in cinemas in the ten years preceding the application.

Aid for the distribution of repertory works within the meaning of article 223-9 may be awarded either in respect of a specific cinematographic work, or in respect of an annual distribution programme comprising at least three works, or in respect of a retrospective linked to a theme or an author.

Aid for the distribution of repertory works allocated under an annual distribution programme is reserved for companies that:1° Regularly distribute repertory cinematographic works. Companies that have distributed at least three repertory cinematographic works during each of the two years preceding the year of the application are considered as having regular distribution of repertory cinematographic works. Aid for the distribution of repertory works is awarded for the distribution of cinematographic works for which the distribution expenses mentioned in article 222-9 do not exceed €550,000.

Aid for the distribution of repertory works is awarded on the basis of the artistic quality of the cinematographic works presented, their rarity and their interest in the history of cinema, the distribution forecasts and conditions announced, the efforts planned in terms of showing the works in cinemas, the promotional work envisaged, and compliance with the commitments made in the aid agreement in respect of the award of previous aid….
