Grants are awarded and their amount is determined by taking into consideration:1° The quality and originality of the visual proposal;2° The appropriateness of the technical choices relating to visual effects and the artistic project;3° The conditions for financing the work;4° The prospects for distributing the work, particularly on the international market;5° The amount of expenditure.
The application for aid must be submitted before filming begins.
The decision to award a grant is taken after consultation with the committee responsible for granting aid for the production of works using digital visual effects.
The aid is awarded in the form of a grant. Payment of the grant is subject to obtaining the decisions required under article 621-16.
The Commission des aides à la production d’œuvres ayant recours à des effets visuels numériques is made up of ten members, including a chairman, appointed for a renewable term of two years.
Selective financial aid is awarded to delegated production companies that, through the use of animation techniques, contribute to the renewal of visual creation and the enhancement of works on the international market. The aforementioned animation techniques correspond to the work mentioned in IV, V and VI of article 211-12.
To be eligible for selective aid, delegated production companies must meet the general conditions for eligibility for financial aid for production set out in these general regulations.
The following are eligible for selective aid: 1° Long-length cinematographic works for which investment approval has been granted; 2° Long-length cinematographic works for which one of the aids provided for in the agreement mentioned in article 712-1 has been awarded; 3° Short-length cinematographic works for which automatic production aid, selective pre-production production aid or aid from a local authority has been awarded; 4° Cinematographic works for which aid for the…
Selective grants are awarded to help cover the cost of producing cinematographic and audiovisual works using animation techniques, corresponding to work carried out in France by companies established in France.
Expenditure taken into account to determine the amount of selective aid is capped at 80% of the production budget for the work or, in the case of an international co-production, 80% of the French participation.
