No person may be both an expert masseur-physiotherapist or sapiteur and a masseur-physiotherapist treating the same patient. The masseur-physiotherapist must not accept a mission of expertise in which his own interests are at stake, or those of one of his patients, one of his relatives, one of his friends or a group which usually calls upon his services.

Article R4321-139 of the French Public Health Code

When entrusted with a mission, the expert masseur-physiotherapist must recuse himself if he considers that the questions put to him are foreign to the art of massage therapy, to his knowledge, to his possibilities or that they would expose him to contravene the provisions of the present code of ethics.

In drafting his report, the expert masseur-physiotherapist must only reveal information that is likely to provide an answer to the questions asked. Outside these limits, he must not reveal anything that he may have learned in the course of this expert assessment. He certifies that he has carried out his mission personally.

Any masseur-physiotherapist who changes his or her conditions of practice, including professional address, or ceases to practise in the department, is obliged to inform the departmental council of the Order without delay. The latter will take note of these changes and inform the national council.
