Book III: Health protection and the environment

The person responsible for a nuclear activity shall, in compliance with the principles set out in Section 1, implement means and measures to ensure the protection of public health, public health and safety and the environment against risks or inconveniences resulting from ionising radiation associated with the exercise of this activity or malicious acts, from the time the activity is set up to the phase following its cessation.

The person responsible for a nuclear activity involving the management of radioactive waste or the release of radioactive effluents shall establish and implement an integrated management system for such waste and effluents, including quality assurance and ensuring the protection of the interests mentioned in Article L. 1333-7, where the activity is likely to present significant risks or inconveniences for these interests.
