The people who carry out the checks provided for in article R. 342-13 are independent of the owner, manufacturer and operator of the ski lift or conveyor belt.

From 1st January 2009, the persons mentioned in article R. 342-14 must first be approved by the technical service for ski lifts and guided transport. This approval is issued for a maximum of five years under the conditions set out in article R. 342-16.

The approvals referred to in articles R. 342-5 and R. 342-15 may stipulate that the work carried out by their beneficiaries is limited to certain categories of equipment and certain categories of checks. An order of the Minister responsible for transport may waive or derogate from the application of certain provisions of this subsection to cross-border ski lifts, provided that the legal framework for the operation of these installations is such as to guarantee an equivalent level of safety.

Any person using a ski lift or conveyor belt without a ticket or with an invalid ticket is liable to a third-class fine.
