Article 412-15 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code
The aid is awarded in the form of a grant.
The aid is awarded in the form of a grant.
Selective financial aid is awarded to authors or production companies to contribute to the writing, development and further development of creative documentary projects of an innovative nature, particularly in terms of format, writing and direction.
Grants are only awarded for projects conceived and written entirely or mainly in French or in a regional language used in France.
The same project may not, for the same expenses, benefit from both aid granted in application of this chapter and other aid granted by the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée, unless an exemption is granted by the President of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée when the development of the project involves a change in its duration, format or economic model.
The award of selective financial aid for innovation in creative documentaries is subject to the provisions of Commission Regulation (EU) No 651/2014 of 17 June 2014 declaring certain categories of aid compatible with the internal market in application of Articles 107 and 108 of the Treaty, in particular those provided for in Chapter I and Article 54 of Section 11 relating to aid schemes for audiovisual works.
The decision to grant aid is taken after consultation with the Commission for Documentary Innovation. In the case of grants for writing and grants for enhanced development, the Commission is consulted after the reading committees have been consulted in accordance with the procedures set out in 1° of article 122-5.
Grants are awarded in the form of subsidies.
A production company may not submit an application for development aid or an application for enhanced development aid if it has already received five development or enhanced development aids for projects that have not yet been paid in full.
Selective financial aid is awarded to authors for writing an elaborate version of creative documentary projects.
To be eligible for writing grants, authors must be French nationals or equivalent.
