The employer must transcribe the results of its risk assessment for each process in the single risk assessment document. The document is updated whenever a process is modified, resulting in a change in dust levels, or when new processes are introduced.
The average concentration of asbestos fibres over eight hours’ work does not exceed ten fibres per litre. It is monitored in the air inhaled by the worker.
The employer must ensure compliance with the occupational exposure limit value for all exposed workers, taking into account the risk assessment.
The conditions and results of inspections are communicated by the employer to the company doctor and to the social and economic committee. They are kept at the disposal of the Labour Inspectorate control officer, the Labour Inspectorate control officer doctor and the agents of the prevention departments of the relevant social security bodies.
The employer shall use the same accredited body to carry out the sampling strategy, sampling and analyses. To this end, the employer shall provide it with all relevant data and, in agreement with the client, shall grant it access to the premises concerned by the operations. The body chosen shall be independent of the companies it inspects.
Individual samples are taken when workers are significantly exposed to asbestos dust inhalation, including the various operational phases.
The employer consults the occupational physician and the social and economic committee on the draft sampling strategy drawn up by the inspection body. Their opinions are forwarded by the employer to the inspection body.
Dust levels are measured using the analytical transmission electron microscopy (TEM) method.
The employer must inform the client of any asbestos found during the operation.
