As stated in the third paragraph of Article 16-4 of the Civil Code, reproduced below: Art. 16-4 (third paragraph) -Any intervention with the aim of creating a child genetically identical to another person, whether living or deceased, is prohibited.

The in vitro conception of a human embryo by gamete fusion or the creation of a human embryo by cloning for research purposes is prohibited. The modification of a human embryo by the addition of cells from other species is prohibited.

A human embryo may not be conceived, created by cloning or used for commercial or industrial purposes.

The cloning of a human embryo for therapeutic purposes is also prohibited.

I.-No research on the human embryo may be undertaken without authorisation.
