Judicial police officers and agents assigned to the Paris and Versailles regional judicial police directorates are competent to carry out their duties on all public transport lines, stations, stops and corridors in the Ile-de-France region. .
The judicial police officers and agents belonging to the departmental gendarmerie search brigades referred to in Article R. 15-24 (1°), are competent to operate on all lines, stations, stops and corridors assigned to public passenger transport within the jurisdiction of their home court of appeal.
Officers and judicial police officers belonging to search brigades, territorial brigades organised or not into brigade communities, motorised brigades of the departmental gendarmerie and surveillance and intervention platoons of the departmental gendarmerie referred to in 1°, 3° and 4° of Article R. 15-24 are competent to operate on all lines, stations, stops and corridors assigned to collective passenger transport in their department of assignment and in neighbouring departments.

The members of the commission and, where appropriate, their alternates are appointed by joint order of the Minister of Justice and the Minister responsible for customs.
In order to be designated to carry out certain judicial police missions, customs officers must provide proof of at least two years’ actual service as a titular officer in a category A or B corps of the Directorate General of Customs and Indirect Rights and have passed the tests of a technical examination. The board of examiners for the technical examination shall be constituted by the commission mentioned in Article R. 15-33-1. When an alternate member of the jury replaces a full member, he or she sits for the entire duration of the examination. The jury draws up a list of candidates who have passed the technical examination.
Customs officers responsible for carrying out judicial investigations pursuant to Article 28-1 are appointed from among those who have passed the technical examination, by joint order of the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Customs, on a proposal from the Director General of Customs and Indirect Rights and after receiving the assent of the commission referred to in Article R. 15-33-1.
A joint order of the Keeper of the Seals, Minister of Justice, and the Minister responsible for Customs sets the list of agents who, due to their responsibilities and skills, are exempt from the technical examination mentioned in Article R. 15-33-3.
Customs officers may only be authorised to carry out judicial police missions when they are assigned to the financial judicial investigation department of the Ministry of the Budget. For each of these officers, a request for authorisation is sent to the public prosecutor at the Paris court of appeal by the magistrate delegated to the judicial missions of the customs and tax authorities.
