Actions relating to filiation and subsidies are heard and argued in chambers. The judgment is pronounced in open court. It is provisionally enforceable only if so ordered.
Where, in the case of a change of filiation, the child of full age consents to the change of his or her name, this consent is received by a civil registrar, a notary, a French diplomatic or consular agent or by the court which pronounces the legitimation; in the latter case, mention of it is made in the operative part of the decision.

The persons authorised to receive a consent to adoption must inform the person giving it of the possibility of withdrawing it and the procedures for withdrawal. The deed provided for in Article 348-3 of the Civil Code states that this information has been given.
The application for adoption is brought before the judicial court. The competent court is: – the court of the place where the applicant lives when the applicant lives in France; – the court of the place where the person whose adoption is sought lives when the applicant lives abroad; – the court chosen in France by the applicant when the applicant and the person whose adoption is sought live abroad.
