Title II: Organisation of the medical professions

Where midwives are questioned in the course of disciplinary proceedings, they are required to disclose all facts of use to the investigation that have come to their knowledge to the extent compatible with respect for professional secrecy. Any deliberately inaccurate statement made to the Association Council by a midwife may give rise to disciplinary proceedings.

Any midwife registered on a roll of the Association who carries out midwifery activities in another Member State of the European Community must declare this to the departmental council on whose roll she is registered.

All midwives, when they are entered on the roll, must affirm before the Conseil Départemental de l’Ordre that they are aware of this Code of Ethics and undertake, under oath and in writing, to comply with it.

Any midwife who ceases to practise must inform the departmental council. The latter acknowledges the decision and informs the national council.

Reasons must be given for all decisions taken by the Association of Midwives in application of this Code of Ethics. Unless otherwise stipulated, decisions taken by the departmental councils may be appealed to the national council. This appeal must be lodged before any legal proceedings.
