The Conciliators’ Conference, instituted by article L. 141-4, is made up of a minimum of thirteen members and a maximum of twenty-one members, recognised for their knowledge of the organisation of sporting activities and their expertise in legal matters. These persons are appointed for the duration of the Olympiad by the Board of Directors of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee on the recommendation of its Ethics Committee.
The duties of the conciliators are carried out on a voluntary basis. However, travel and subsistence expenses incurred by conciliators shall be reimbursed by the French National Olympic and Sports Committee upon presentation of supporting documents.
Meeting on the initiative of the oldest member, the Conciliators’ Conference chooses a Chairman and a Vice-Chairman from among its members to assist it. In the event that a conciliator breaches the obligation of secrecy provided for in article L. 141-4, or any other behaviour incompatible with the performance of his duties, the Board of Directors of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee may order the compulsory resignation of the person concerned after having given him the opportunity to present his observations before the Ethics Committee.
The request for conciliation is sent to the chairman of the conciliators’ conference by registered letter, fax or e-mail, return receipt requested.
