The public administrations defined in 1° of article L. 100-3 of the code of relations between the public and the administration are required to use the directory identity number exclusively in all correspondence, if the subject of this correspondence requires the registered legal units and their establishments as defined in article R. 123-220.
In accordance with article R. 123-220 any legal unit, institution or service shall mention in its correspondence with the administrations or bodies defined in 1° of article L. 100-3 of the code of relations between the public and the administration, the identification number as soon as it is notified and, when the correspondence more specifically concerns one or more of its establishments, the number(s) of the latter.
The Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques is authorised to use the national register for the identification of natural persons to certify, and where necessary to bring into line, the civil status of the legal representatives of legal units registered in the national register for the identification of companies and their establishments. .
The Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques is authorised to verify and, if necessary, correct the address of establishments on the basis of geographical references. It may supplement the address with geographical identifiers and topographical coordinates.
The unique identification number which alone may be required of a company in its dealings with the administrations, persons or bodies listed in Article L. 123-32 is the identity number assigned to it when it is entered in the register of companies and their establishments pursuant to sub-section 2.
