When a foreign national has been subjected to family or domestic violence and the cohabitation relationship has been broken off, the administrative authority may not withdraw the residence permit of the foreign national admitted for family reunification and will grant a renewal. The residence permit of a foreign national who does not fall into the categories mentioned in articles L. 631-2, L. 631-3 and L. 631-4 may be withdrawn if the holder has brought in his or her spouse or children outside the family reunification procedure. The decision to withdraw the residence permit is taken after consultation with the residence permit commission provided for in article L. 432-14.

The conditions for the application of articles L. 423-17 and L. 423-19 are set by decree in the Conseil d’Etat.
