Orthoprosthetists, chiropodists, ocularists, epithesists and orthopaedic orthotists are bound by professional secrecy under the conditions and subject to the penalties set out in articles 226-13 and 226-14 of the French Criminal Code.

When appliances and products are supplied by establishments with one or more sales outlets, each sales outlet must have at least one professional trained and competent under the conditions defined in articles D. 4364-8, D. 4364-9, D. 4364-10 and D. 4364-11 on the days and during the hours when patients receive technical care. This professional may be different from the director or manager of the sales outlet or establishment.

The rental, peddling, itinerant sales, so-called demonstration sales, sales by canvassing or by mail order of orthoprostheses, podo-orthoses, ocular or facial prostheses and products delivered by orthopaedic-orthotists are prohibited.

An orthopaedic surgeon, a chiropodist-orthotist, an ocularist, an epithesist or an orthopaedic surgeon-orthotist may be registered in only one department or only in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon.
