As soon as circumstances require, the midwife must offer to consult a doctor. She must accept any consultation with a doctor requested by the patient or her relatives. In either case, she may suggest the name of a doctor but must take account of the patient’s wishes and accept, unless there is a serious reason, the doctor suggested to her.
