Midwives are part of the multidisciplinary clinical-biological medical team mentioned in the first paragraph of article L. 2141-10. In this capacity, they take part in the individual interviews mentioned in the same article.
The midwives provide couples with the information and support they need at every stage of the medically assisted reproduction procedure, in conjunction with the centre’s doctors. Before and during the implementation of this procedure, the midwives may carry out the following activities during specific consultations: – programming and implementing the management protocol drawn up by the doctor for each patient ; – therapeutic education ; – prescribing and monitoring biological…
Midwives may contribute to the information and clinical, biological and ultrasound monitoring of the oocyte donor. They may be involved in the procedure for embryo reception by a third party couple by taking part in the interview provided for in the first paragraph of article R. 2141-2. They may be responsible for the medical monitoring and support of the woman receiving the embryo.
For each couple, the midwives help to ensure that the joint medical record referred to in the second paragraph of Article R. 2142-8 is properly kept. When they work in a medically assisted procreation centre, they participate in the evaluation of the centre’s activities.
I.-Midwives may prescribe and administer the vaccines mentioned in the decrees provided for in 1° and 2° of article L. 4151-2 to persons whose age conditions and, where applicable, pathologies are specified by these same decrees. Screening for the sexually transmitted infections listed in table I of appendix 41-3 may be prescribed by midwives for their patients and partners, in accordance with current recommendations. If the screening result is positive, the person tested is referred immediately by the midwife to a doctor or specialist service.
Screening for the sexually transmitted infections listed in table II of appendix 41-3 may be prescribed, in accordance with current recommendations, by midwives for their patients and their partners. Where the screening result is positive, the midwife prescribes the first-line treatment, in accordance with current recommendations, to the person or persons who have tested positive and in accordance with the list provided for in article L. 4151-4.
The sexually transmitted infections listed in table III of appendix 41-3 may be treated by midwives as a first-line treatment, in accordance with current recommendations, for their patients and their patients’ partners, and in accordance with the list provided for in article L. 4151-4.
Screening for the sexually transmitted infections listed in table IV of appendix 41-3 may be prescribed, in accordance with current recommendations, for their patients’ partners, with immediate referral to a doctor or specialist service.
Midwives can screen their patients for human papillomavirus (HPV) infections in line with current recommendations.
