Only those biology, functional investigations, psychiatry, radiology, follow-up and rehabilitation and long-term care departments which are not necessary for teaching and medical research may be placed entirely outside the application of this chapter. Article R6142-13 of the French Public Health Code

The university hospital centre is responsible for all expenditure relating to hospital activities. Insofar as the hospital centre uses the services of the training and research units for hospital purposes, it reimburses the university for the expenses incurred by them, under the conditions and at the intervals laid down in the agreement.
