The university hospital centre provides the secretariat for the committee and supplies it with the material and financial resources required for its work. The secretariat for the committee of the Montpellier-Nîmes university hospital centre is provided by the Montpellier university hospital centre. The secretariat for the committee of the Antilles-Guyane university hospital centre is provided by the Fort-de-France university hospital centre.
The Haut Comité hospitalo-universitaire instituted in article L. 6142-15 may be consulted on any issue relating to the university hospital missions of hospitals and university teaching centres, particularly in the field of evaluating the quality of training.
Matters are referred to the committee by the ministers responsible for higher education and health.
The chairman of the committee, chosen from among the State Councillors, is appointed by order of the ministers responsible for higher education and health for a non-renewable term of four years.
