In the establishments mentioned in article R. 3132-5 where other industries or activities are carried out at the same time, the option of giving weekly rest by rotation applies exclusively to the production, work and activities determined in the table in that article.
In addition to the categories of establishments listed in article R. 3132-5, establishments operating day and night with alternating shifts which have suspended, for at least twelve consecutive hours each Sunday, work other than the urgent work and cleaning and maintenance work referred to in articles L. 3132-4 and L. 3132-8 are entitled to give weekly rest in shifts.

In the absence of an extended collective labour agreement or company or establishment agreement, the use of stand-in teams may be authorised by the Labour Inspector if it is aimed at making better use of production equipment and maintaining or increasing the number of existing jobs.
The daily working time of employees assigned to stand-in shifts may be up to twelve hours when the period during which such shifts are used does not exceed forty-eight consecutive hours. When this period exceeds forty-eight hours, the working day may not exceed ten hours.
If a company or establishment agreement provides for stand-in shifts, authorisation to exceed the maximum daily working time of ten hours is requested from the labour inspector.
