Nomination papers are sent to the Minister no later than twenty days before the opening date of the ballot and posted on the Ministry of Health website.

The ballot paper shall indicate whether the trade union organisation belongs to a national union of trade unions on the date of submission of candidatures.

For each statutory college, the polling station records the total number of voters and determines the total number of votes validly cast and the number of votes obtained by each list. The full representatives are appointed in the order of presentation of the list. Each list is then allocated a number of alternates designated in the order of presentation of the list.

If no candidates are put forward by the trade unions, lots are drawn from among the eligible staff in the statutory college concerned.

Without prejudice to the provisions of the last paragraph of I of article 9 bis of the aforementioned Act of 13 July 1983, any disputes regarding the validity of the electoral process shall be referred to the Minister for Health within five days of the announcement of the results and then, where appropriate, to the administrative courts.
