Title II: Sanitary equipment

The holder of the interventional radiology authorisation must ensure that the equipment exposing patients to ionising radiation has the tools required to optimise radiation protection for patients and staff.

The holder of the authorisation has at least one emergency trolley on the premises for the treatment of patients requiring it.

I.-The medical staff required for the activity includes at least one doctor specialising in radiology and medical imaging, present on site while the patient is being treated. For activities falling under categories B, C and D as provided for in Article R. 6123-166, at least one doctor specialising in radiology and medical imaging is competent in advanced interventional radiology or has experience in the practice of advanced interventional radiology procedures….

The authorisation holder shall put in place a formalised organisation describing, depending on the situation, the procedures for the intervention of one or more doctors specialising in anaesthesia and intensive care in conjunction with the medical staff mentioned in I of article D. 6124-235 with the aim of ensuring the safety of the care provided. Protocols are drawn up by the medical staff mentioned in I of article D. 6124-235 to organise patient care with the doctors in charge of the inpatient units, the continuous monitoring unit, the intensive care unit or the resuscitation unit, as appropriate, when patients are admitted to these units. Where appropriate, these protocols are adapted to the specificities of paediatric care.

The holder ensures the continuity and safety of care as provided for in Article L. 1110-1, and formalises this in the protocols referred to in Article D. 6124-237.
