The establishment must be managed by either a doctor or a nursery nurse. If there is no medical director, a doctor must be attached to each establishment. This doctor, who does not have to be resident in the establishment, must be able to respond quickly to any call. The director of the establishment must sign a written agreement with the surgeons, specialists and medical auxiliaries who may be called upon in case of need.

Social services are provided by a full-time social services assistant if the size of the establishment warrants it.

An individual observation sheet shows weight and height curves and diet indications. This information must be transcribed onto the health record.

Under no circumstances may mothers work outside the establishment. They must not be entrusted with housework inside the establishment and must take the rest required by their state of health. However, they must, as far as possible, look after their child, dressing, caring for and feeding it, unless medically contraindicated. An educational programme is organised for mothers on hygiene and childcare during their stay.

The dates and times of visits are set out in the internal regulations. All visitors must comply with the hygiene regulations laid down by the doctor.

The director of the establishment must keep : 1° A special register signed by the doctor assigned to the establishment on each visit. All his observations, all medical incidents and all his prescriptions are recorded in this register; the observations of the medical inspectors and the officials responsible for monitoring are also recorded in this register; 2° A register in which the surname, first names, date and place of birth…
