Unaccompanied minors may only be placed and held in the waiting area for the time strictly necessary to determine whether their asylum application is inadmissible or manifestly unfounded, in exceptional circumstances and only in the cases provided for in 1° and 2° of Article L. 531-24, at 1° of article L. 531-26 and 5° of article L. 531-27.

A foreign national authorised to enter France on asylum grounds is issued with an eight-day regularisation visa without delay. Within this period, the competent administrative authority will, at his request, issue him with an asylum application certificate enabling him to lodge his application with the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons.
