In the event of absence or impediment of the pharmacists in charge or delegates, their replacement may not exceed one year, except in the case of military obligations. The pharmacist in charge and the interim pharmacist(s) in charge of the Agence nationale de santé publique are appointed by the Director General of this establishment.

In non-profit and humanitarian organisations, the interim pharmacist(s) in charge is/are appointed by the president of the association.

Where the company is owned by a pharmacist, the pharmacist may be replaced by : 1° A delegated or assistant pharmacist from the same company ; 2° A pharmacist who has no other professional activity during the period of his replacement and who is registered for this purpose with the competent section of the Ordre national des pharmaciens.

In the central army pharmacy and in the army health service medical supply establishments, the interim pharmacist(s) in charge are appointed by the Minister of Defence.
