As the National Sports Agency’s territorial delegate, the regional prefect coordinates the agency’s actions with those carried out by the administrations, public establishments of the State and other public interest groups of which the State is a member. He ensures that the respective actions of the State services and the agency with regard to local authorities are consistent.

The regional prefect, in his capacity as territorial delegate of the National Sports Agency, is assisted by a deputy territorial delegate, who is the regional academic delegate for youth, commitment and sports, to whom he may delegate his signature. Insofar as the services of the civil administrations of the State are called upon to contribute to the exercise of the territorial missions of the National Sports Agency, the Regional Prefect concludes an agreement with the Agency specifying the conditions under which he makes part of his services available to the Agency, where necessary.

The representative of the State in the local authorities governed by article 74 of the Constitution and in New Caledonia exercises the functions entrusted to the regional Prefect by articles R. 112-32 to R. 112-35.
