For prior authorisation, the application must be submitted at least one month before the end of the shooting or, for works in the animation genre, at least one month before the end of the production of the animation.For works composed entirely of pre-existing images, the application must be submitted at least one month before the start of editing.

For final authorisation, the application must be submitted no later than four months after completion of the work. This deadline is extended to six months when the final cost of the work must be certified by an auditor, and in the case of an international co-production.

The production company has a period of three years from the date of issue of the prior authorisation to obtain the final authorisation.If this period is not respected, the production company is required to reimburse the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée for the aid it has received.
