The granting of aid is the subject of two decisions:1° A provisional decision accepting the principle of granting aid;2° A definitive decision to grant aid once the amount of aid has been determined.
The provisional decision is taken on the advice of the Commission des aides à l’écriture et à la réécriture de scénario, after consultation with reading committees in accordance with the procedures set out in 1° of article 122-5.
The final award decision is taken after the amount of the aid has been determined on the advice of a costing committee made up of the chairman and vice-chairman of the commission and representatives of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée.
The maximum amount of support is €30,000, including a maximum of €20,000 for the author.
The aid is awarded in the form of a grant.The aid is paid in two instalments. The first instalment, which may not exceed 50% of the total amount of the grant, is paid when the grant is awarded. Selective financial aid is awarded to authors and production companies for the rewriting of the screenplay of a feature-length cinematographic work, taking into account, in particular, the nature of the subject, the characteristics and qualities of the work, as well as the writing project and the intentions behind it.
Screenplay rewriting grants are intended for projects presented in the form of a dialogue continuity for which additional writing work is required.
To be eligible for screenplay rewriting grants, authors must, depending on the case :1° Where the rewrite concerns a first screenplay, provide evidence of artistic experience in the film or audiovisual field, or of writing or directing, during the ten years preceding that of the application, a theatrical work that has given at least twenty commercial performances or a radio work in the genres of fiction or creative radio documentary,…
