The grant is paid to the author at the time of the award decision. If there is more than one author, payment is made to the authors according to the agreements between them.
Selective financial aid is awarded to production companies for the development of a finished version of a creative documentary project for which writing aid has been granted.
To be eligible for development aid, production companies must meet the following conditions:1° Be established in France;2° Have chairmen, directors or managers, as well as the majority of their directors, who are French nationals or assimilated;3° Not be controlled by one or more natural or legal persons who are nationals of States other than European States, when they are constituted in the form of a commercial company.
Production companies must:1° Have signed an audiovisual production contract with one or more authors;2° Make a personal contribution to financing the development of the project, by making a cash contribution equal to at least 20% of the amount of aid awarded.
Applications for development aid must be submitted within one year of the decision to award writing aid for the project, unless a derogation is granted on the grounds of exceptional circumstances, external to the production company, directly affecting the completion of the project.
The production company has twelve months from the date of the decision to award the grant to submit the finalised version of the project to the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée, together with proof of expenditure incurred.In exceptional circumstances and at the reasoned request of the production company, the aforementioned deadline may be extended for a period not exceeding twelve months, by decision of the President of…
Development aid is paid to the production company as follows: – 80% at the time of the award decision;– 20% after submission to the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée of the finalised version of the project and proof of expenditure incurred.
Selective financial aid is awarded to production companies for the initial filming and pre-editing of a creative documentary, particularly with a view to seeking funding.
To qualify for enhanced development aid, production companies must meet the conditions set out in articles 421-13 and 421-14.
Support for enhanced development will not be granted for projects that are the subject of a contract for the purchase of broadcasting rights by a television service publisher on the date they are examined by the Commission des aides à l’innovation en documentaire.
