French Cinema and Moving Image Code

The beneficiaries of the aid are the owners of the business or the operators of the cinemas.

Aid may only be granted if the sums entered in the automatic cinema exhibition account and the advances to which the beneficiary is entitled are insufficient. These sums and advances must be used in full to finance the project.

Aid is granted for establishments that hold at least five film screenings per week. By way of derogation, aid may be granted to establishments with a lower level of activity, particularly those operating on a seasonal basis.

Aid is granted to help pay for the work and investments mentioned in article 232-10 or the training mentioned in articles 232-11 and 232-12.

Unless an exemption is granted by the President of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée to take account of the specific nature of the project, the work and investments must not have been started or the training begun before the decision to award the aid is taken.

Aid for creation and modernisation is awarded and its amount determined in consideration of :1° The cinematographic interest of the project;2° The interest of the project in terms of the diversity of the cinematographic offer available to spectators;3° The social utility of the project and its role in serving the region;4° The quality of the facilities, in particular the quality of the screenings, the quality of the reception, the comfort…

When aid is applied for to contribute to the cost of training, it is granted and the amount determined in the light of the importance of the proposed training to the modernisation of the farm.
