During an intervention in a hyperbaric environment, workers may alternate between different functions within the team, provided that they have the skills and aptitudes required in accordance with 1° of Article R. 4461-7.

The work in hyperbaric environments referred to in 1° of Article R. 4461-1 may only be carried out by companies which have obtained a certificate issued by a certification body accredited under the conditions of Article R. 4724-1.
Temporary employment undertakings which provide workers to carry out the work referred to in Article R. 4461-43 are subject to the obligations set out in that same article.

The employer shall appoint, from among the workers referred to in Article R. 4451-45, a hyperbaric operations manager who shall be responsible, on site and under the employer’s responsibility, for coordinating the team as regards hyperbaric safety. The operation leader ensures that the intervention methods and conditions are recorded in the individual hyperbaric logbook.
Work equipment is understood to include all the elements required to: 1° Perform work in hyperbaric conditions; 2° Monitor workers in hyperbaric conditions; 3° Produce, transfer, store, distribute and monitor breathing gases; 4° Provide emergency assistance. A joint order by the Ministers for Labour and Agriculture specifies the technical and operational specifications to be met by this equipment.
A joint order by the ministers responsible for labour, the sea, the interior, agriculture and culture determines: 1° The procedures and conditions for accrediting the bodies responsible for certification; 2° The procedures and conditions for certifying companies, taking account of their technical skills and the sector of activity in which they may operate; 3° The list of activities or categories of activities for which certification is required.
In the event of an unforeseen event requiring a one-off modification to the work organisation initially defined, the employer may ask the worker to deviate from the maximum pressures authorised by his hyperbaric fitness certificate, subject to implementing the necessary safety measures as defined in 3° of Article R. 4461-7.
