Orders issued by the Minister for Labour or the Minister for Agriculture determine the work equipment or categories of work equipment for which the employer carries out periodic general inspections or has them carried out, so that any deterioration likely to cause danger can be detected in good time. These orders specify the frequency of inspections, their nature and their content.
Periodic general inspections are carried out by qualified persons, who may or may not belong to the establishment, a list of whom is made available to the Labour Inspectorate. These persons are competent in the field of risk prevention presented by the work equipment subject to inspection and are familiar with the relevant regulatory provisions.
The results of periodic general inspections are recorded in the safety register(s) referred to in Article L. 4711-5.
When periodic inspections are carried out by persons not belonging to the establishment, the reports drawn up following these inspections are appended to the safety register. Failing this, precise details of the date of the inspections, the date of submission of the corresponding reports and their storage in the establishment are entered in the safety register.
The safety register and reports may be kept and stored on any medium under the conditions set out in Article L. 8113-6.

Demountable or mobile work equipment used for lifting loads must be used in such a way as to guarantee the stability of the work equipment during use under all foreseeable conditions, taking into account the nature of the supports.
All measures are taken and all instructions are given to ensure that, at no time, the components of work equipment used for lifting loads, whatever they may be, as well as suspended loads, can come into direct contact or cause ignition with the active parts of non-insulated electrical installations, or damage the surrounding electrical installations.
People may only be lifted using work equipment and accessories designed for this purpose.
By way of derogation from article R. 4323-31, work equipment not designed for lifting people may be used: 1° Either to access a workstation or to perform work when the use of equipment specially designed for lifting people is technically impossible or exposes them to a greater risk due to the work environment.
