The Prefect of the region referred to in article R. 1132-4-1 shall designate the department responsible for providing the Commission’s secretariat.

Genetic counsellors may not engage in any other professional activity unless it is compatible with the dignity and quality required by their professional practice.
Genetic counsellors practise their profession with respect for life and the human person. They act in all circumstances in the interests of the persons who consult them, whose dignity and privacy they respect.
Once the genetic counsellor has agreed to take charge of a person, he or she is obliged to ensure the follow-up and continuity of this care.
Genetic counsellors shall only perform those professional acts which fall within their remit by virtue of the provisions of Article L. 1132-1.
Genetic counsellors and trainees undergoing training to become genetic counsellors are subject to professional secrecy under the conditions set out in Articles 226-13 and 223-14 of the French Penal Code.
