The conditions for issuing corrective ocular contact lenses to a first-time wearer are determined by decree in the Conseil d’Etat.
The dispensing of corrective lenses is subject to the existence of a valid prescription by a doctor or an orthoptist. When corrective lenses or contact lenses are dispensed for the first time following a prescription, opticians may adapt the prescription with the written agreement of the prescribing practitioner.
